Success Stories: Judge
Judge was rescued by Pyles Of Smiles Sanctuary in Northern California. Judge had a severe dental problem requiring some surgery. Although normal dental maintenance and teeth cleaning isn't considered an urgent medical need, extenuating circumstances in Judge's situation required this procedure to allow diagnosis of the teeth in question.
Shellie's Introduction of Judge
Judge (Named after Sylvester Stallone's role, Judge Dred -- not only 'cause he's one big handsome hunk and cool dude, but because his coat was so neglected it had FOOT LONG 'dreadlocks' hanging all over his body!) He's a young guy, but had obviously been around the block a bit. He was rescued from an LA shelter by our California network of volunteers and sent to Pyles Of Smiles Sanctuary in Northern California near Redding. Even though he'd been altered prior to leaving the shelter, the attending vet didn't notice his severely split and infected molar (with green pus oozing out of the middle of the split tooth!) Judge, macho as he is, was such a good boy allowing for the examination of the tooth, he stoically stood by even though you KNOW it really HURT! Our vet put him on antibiotics to prepare for the mandatory surgery where the tooth directly beneath the broken one will be examined and removed if necessary.

Shellie's Judge Update - March 18
The stitches are all dissolved and the hole is healed over. His smile isn't the least bit affected (you really have to LOOK and raise his lips to see the site.) Judge's mouth owie is History thanks to SamUrgency! His entire outlook on life has improved as well. While always being a wonderful dog, he was getting a bit downtrodden and headshy with having to have medication put down his throat past a hurt tooth twice a day! All that is past him and that head is right where you are, looking for cookies (which he can catch in the ranks of the best outfielders!) and rubbins...
He's a very sweet dog who is never involved in anything naughty. It's amazing how these guys find naughty things to do, but he doesn't dig or rip up cookie boxes into a gazillion pieces for me to pick up or pick on the other dogs -- he's a great example of a well behaved gentleman! He's got a few people looking his way to take him home -- it won't take long with this handsome guy!

Shellie's Judge Update - April 14
Judge did go to a great home in San Digeo about two weeks ago. The first thing he did was lay in his new bed and grab his new rawhide chew bone and show his Mom and Dad the tooth thing was in his past!
Update from Judge's Mom and Dad - June 3
Judge is doing just fine here in San Diego. He loves the walks down by the lake and meeting other dogs. As you can see in the pictures he has made himself feel quite at home! Judge is a very loving dog and I am so glad to have him.
