Sadie was an older stray that came in to rescue in North Carolina. She was found by a dog-lover who fell in love with her sweet personality. She took her to the humane society after being unable to locate her owners, and she contacted the Samoyed Rescue Alliance to see if she could be saved from the shelter if she wasn't reclaimed. Alice from Georgia Samoyed Rescue knew of a Samoyed owner near the shelter who could foster her if Tarheel Samoyed Rescue could take her. The shelter knew that Sadie was older and that she had heartworm but everyone still felt this senior girl deserved to have a good life with a loving family.
Sadie's foster family jokingly call her a "cranky old woman." They bought her some slippers to help her get around on their wood floors, which she promptly took off and lost. She is bossy with the foster family's other dogs, but it is all bluff and they don't mind at all. They say she is happy and enjoys eating, sleeping and having her head scratched! Her foster family has kids -- who gave her the name Sadie -- and everyone really enjoys her.
She is currently in her second round of heartworm treatment. If you would be interested in helping out with Sadie's care, please see the How You Can Help page.
